And if anyone figures out what that identity is, could the drop Linden Lab marketing a line and let them know?

Interesting! In an age where most are happy to be herded to a niche, or given a certain amount of instruction, SL asks you "Who you will be?", perhaps a much better line here would be "What do you want to be?" and certainly a slightly better picture than some girl in a very awkward pose and a slightly lacklustre outfit on, with dour looking suits behind her.

I'd love a montage of images, a sailor, a builder, a clubber, a model, a furry - I understand why the transactional consumer route is being pushed at the moment, but the killer app of SL is the diversity over all the other platforms.

When I have spoken to noobs in the past, the one piece of advice I always gave was: Who you are in SL will evolve, give yourself time to find out what you want to do here.

The web sites I pulled these static shots from did have multiple images and/or animation that depicted a variety of avatar looks and environments. That said, although there are differences a discerning eye can see, I think a casual surfer checking out avatar-based platforms would have a hard time telling them apart just by the first impressions.

I have to agree with Toxic, the outfit is terrible.... wouldn't catch me there....whoops... I am... Doh!

I guess the Boys haven't seen Avatar yet.....that wasn't exactly based on reality, but made a bit of cash...

It looks to me like Second Life has the same identity as all the others. So either they are all wrong, all right, or all being designed by the same marketing company.

Well over 3 years in and it's still hard for me to articulate why I'm in SL.

I guess I'm telling on myself here but: I'm glad I'm not SL marketing lol

...good luck with that y'all!
